I have been using Shangmail for a couple of months, but the last few days if I have it running my bold has a network error that pops up on the screen. Also I can’t send or receive emails. Do you have any suggestions?
12/03/2010 at 16:20
yeah let me help you with that. If you see the application and pause it this wont happen. Its because the version of application. Download the latest version from wap.shangmail.com, than try.
you will see a difference. Let us know if this works.
15/03/2010 at 13:23
Ok, so i deleted the old app and downloaded v4.9. When I register, it says User Registered. Then I go to login and it says Login Failed, please try again later. I have tried several times over a few days and keep receiving the same login error. I really miss my shangmail, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hello, i’m using Shangmail from today in my unlockeg BB8310 without BES/BIS service and standard data plan (internet works great in BB Browser/opera), I look than my new emails are in the BB email client like a BES/BIS Service but I can’t answer/forward that email because i’dont the option SEND in te menu. What can I do? I have my service book works fine to navigate. Thanks in advance.
17/03/2010 at 22:45
SEND option not available because you dont have any Service Book for Email on your BlackBerry.
Use Service book Anworm TCP for All Network
it has Browser and Email SB.
18/03/2010 at 01:08
Thank you for your answer. I did make that and now I’ve just one service book called “Email (CMIME)” but can not see SEND item when I create a new email, just DRAFT (with or whitout sim card). Any ideas?
18/03/2010 at 03:27
I’m sorry, now it’s working. I’d make a reset and everything is fine, now I can send/receive from my gmail account thanks you and shangmail. Regards from Argentina. !!!
02/04/2010 at 22:51
I can send mail from my gmail account. But when trying to retrieve mail says “you have 0 mail”. I am using BB 9700.
03/04/2010 at 08:46
hey im currently using pocket communications and thanks to you i have not only backup my service books, but rather edited them to include email. My problem been that i have installed the email service book but still have not been able to send emails? By the way i have reseted the devise in an attemp to fix this, and shangmail is pushing my emails with no problems. If there is a fix please inform me of such, thanks
04/04/2010 at 23:36
is there anything that will work for the 9700?
07/04/2010 at 01:01
Hello, is there a way to send pictures by email right after taking them? Thanks
16/04/2010 at 23:07
I have same problem with “you have 0 mail” on my Blackberry 9700. Any ideas?
18/04/2010 at 16:02
Hello guys!
I hv got a Blackberry Curve 8520 without any BIS or BES plan. Am using basic internet plan.
I have got the shangmail app & the required service books but the problem is that although I am able to send emails I am unable to receive any.
It just says ‘there are 0 new emails’ I am using a gmail accout and have tried both POP3 & IMAP, the problem still persists.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
23/04/2010 at 22:17
Hey,
I managed to set up the service books & shangmail service but how would you push in the mails on the DEFAULT BB email app? I have an 8520 as well:)
Grt!
24/04/2010 at 03:26
Hey,
I managed to setup Shnagmail (using the Chinese version 4.9 & login with mode CMNET.
As I don’t have BIS or BES I used the Email Service Book from Anworm.
I can receive emails & sent, thou I can’t send pictures or other aatachements. When trying to do the BB tells me: “the attachment file may be reduced in size” and in the end a email is sent without the picture as aatachment.
Any idea where to change a setting or config to increase the ‘allowed’ mail size so I can send a picture made with the BB via the BB email client/shangmail?
Thanks for sharing your experienses
24/04/2010 at 03:34
Hi Dieter,
As I at least have a part working and use a 8520 as well, I might be able to help you out. But I seem not to realy understand what you want.
On my 8520 after installing the service book (from Anworm) and installing the (chinese) Shangmail v4.9, I registered on shangmail with a fake phone number and password, mode WIFI. If the number chosen is not yet occupied you’ll receive something like registration OK.
Now shangmail is running and automatically emails received are shown in the BB Email client.
P.S. If Shangmail is exited, I have to re-login using the phone number, password and mode CMNET (instead of WIFI).
24/04/2010 at 19:56
Hmm, I’m from Belgium and the browser is working with both wifi and GPRS but other applications like facebook/nimbuzz don’t work (asks for dataplan). I do have a dataplan with my carrier although it is not a BIS/BES service.
I downloaded the service book, but the external applications won’t turn on..
Btw, model 8520 is not available in the menu at shangmail? Which version do you use than?
Thx! Grt from Belgium:)
25/04/2010 at 19:15
Ok, shangmail is running but it can’t access my gprs network, same problem with the other applications (facebook etc)..
26/04/2010 at 16:32
Finally managed to get the APN settings correct:) and it works!:)
26/04/2010 at 23:16

28/06/2010 at 15:42
Hi,
Which service books do I need to install for sending emails. TCP fo all networks or TCP & WiFi? I sometimes use the WiFI for speed, but use the data plan when a WiFi connection is not available.
Thanks,

Is there anyway to add new service book entries? Im trying to use WLM on my storm but it says service not supported on handheld. i was reading in other forums and it seems you gotta have WindowsLive[KEYNEGO] and WindowsLive[BBIM] added on the servicebook.
also i dont know if there any entry needed for the fb app? apart from that, everything else works great!

I have no data plan and intend to use Shangmail only through wifi. What am I doing wrong or not doing at all?

Hi, don’t know if anyone is facing the same problem but there is no notification on my blackberry when i receive a new email. The only way is to go to Messages and hit the Retrieve Email option to view my new emails. Are there any settings for me to do to be able to receive a notification on my blackberry device instead of going to Messages and keep on Clicking on Retrieve Email option.

Hi Anworm,
i want to use internet/GPRS on my new BB Tour 9630 phone, however, service providers asked me to buy Blackberry Internet Service Plans and then only I can access the internet. But, those plans are too costly.
Can you suggest some solution.
I already tried changing APN name but it did not work
02/06/2011 at 15:06
Seems like Shangmail servers does not poll the Gmail servers until you manually “Retrieve Email” inside the Shangmail app on my 9700.
02/06/2011 at 15:09
My bad, Shangmail servers actually do poll the gmail servers quite frequent, but somehow it doesn’t get pushed to the phone…

hello im using facebook without bis and shangmail with your service book, but i dont have notifications from facebook on home panel , its because of mail service book?
25/08/2011 at 13:06
Just wondering if u can give me some advice as what to do when ShangMail expires? my ShangMail states an expiration date as of 2011-10-?? Can’t remember exact date. But that’s October not to far away. Is there away around this? The whole idea of not paying for bis/bes is what got me on this ShangMail thing. But now I’m going to have to pay for ShangMail? Pretty pointless I guess. I think I’m just going to bite the bullet then and actually get bis/bes. I don’t care if ShangMail is only $20 a year. Still pointless to pay for an app that’s suppose to be a work around to paying for the service. Guess no one sees my point? Oh well guess i’ll have to do it the old fashioned way without push and use logicmail.

Hi,
It is my first visit to this site and found it very informative,
I’m not so geek about all these stuff (just a beginner).
My problem is that I’m not able to connect facebook & BB Apps World & some apps (which early worked perfectly except BBM & push mails) on my blackberry curve 8900 OS.5 since I won’t have a BIS or BES it used to work with simple gprs thou I’m using Reliance GSM Andhra Pradesh.
I was having facebook’s older ver 1.9 which worked well as I upgraded to FB’s ver 2.0 which messed the whole thing.
Even I’m unable to get facebook’s older version anywhere out there every link takes me up to ver 2.0 an OTA of older facebook’s version will be healpful.
Solution for this is like getting chilled water in a hot desert for me.
Thanks in advance.
